Below are a list of circumstances that will help guide you and let you know if you need emergency dental care immediately.
Toothaches happen and could be linked to a few issues such as a cavity or gum disease. The first sign of having a toothache is eating something very sweet, too hot, or too cold. The inside of your tooth can also be irritated, which is what causes a toothache. If you can’t go into an emergency dentist, then try rinsing with warm water or flossing to dislodge food particles. If your mouth is swollen, then try putting a cold compress to the outside of your cheek or mouth. Make sure to get to an emergency dentist as quickly as possible. Keep in mind, Shifa Dental is available to do emergency dental care.
Broken and chipped teeth happen, especially if you’re an athlete. If you have a broken or chipped tooth, then rinse your mouth out with warm water and save the pieces of your tooth. Apply a cold compress to the outside of where the chipped or broken tooth was to relieve the pain and swelling. If there’s bleeding, then try and stop the bleeding with gauze. A person with a broken tooth or a chipped one needs to be seen as quickly as possible by a dentist to avoid getting an abscess or severe tooth pain.
If your crown falls out, then try to get to the dentist as quickly as possible and remember to bring the crown with you. If it’s possible, try to slip the crown over the tooth and coat it in dental cement, toothpaste, or denture adhesive to keep the crown in place. If you have bad pain, then try putting clove oil on the sensitive area. Whatever you do, don’t use super glue, and remember to get to a dentist as soon as possible.
